Drivers and pedestrians are urged to avoid the Belmont Bridge/Swadford Street area of Skipton following a serious collision.
The alert was issued at 5.55pm this evening (Wednesday, 22 March).
North Yorkshire Police say the route will be closed until further notice.
They ask road users to please follow the diversions in place.
A North Yorkshire road is blocked by an overturned cement mixer this afternoon (Thursday, 16 March).
Police said on social media: “The A170 between Thirsk and Sutton Bank is closed due to an overturned cement mixer.
“As you can imagine, the road will be closed for some time while we work to recover the vehicle, so please plan your journeys accordingly.”
Both crashes on the York outer ring road have now been cleared.
As we reported earlier, the collisions were causing rush hour delays today (Tuesday, 14 March) on the A1237.
One was near the roundabout with the A59, and the other was at Strensall Road near Earswick.
Traffic at both locations is running normally again.

The AA is reporting “queueing traffic, restrictions and delays, and congestion to routes through York in the construction area.”
And the second is on A1237 both ways at Strensall Road near Earswick and Huntington Fire station.
Avoid if you can.
