LNER is advising passengers not to travel today as ‘major disruption’ has seen trains delayed by hours or cancelled.

A points failure between Doncaster and Grantham has left trains running at reduced speed on all lines.

It means trains running between York and London Kings Cross are being cancelled, delayed or revised.

LNER said this afternoon: “Due to the severity of today’s disruption and the number of cancellations across the route, it is advised not to travel.

“Tickets dated today (Wednesday 16 April) will be valid for use tomorrow (Thursday 17 April).”

Network Rail engineers are on site.
