A man who brought a knife to a court in York has been sentenced in the same building.

Christopher Stuart Wilson, 56, from land near Kirby Misperton, brought a lock knife to York Magistrates’ Court on December 21, 2017.

He was back in the same court last Thurdsay (March 8) when he pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

According to the court hearing his knife had “a blade that locked into position when fully extended”.

He was sentenced to a community order, requiring him to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85, and a victim surcharge of £85.

He was also fined £100 for the commission of a further offence whilst subject to a conditional discharge, imposed on 6 December 2017 at Blackpool Magistrates Court, for an offence of obstructing the highway at Preston New Road in Lancashire.
