Fri 31 Jul, 2015 by YorkMix

Police on Hamilton Drive this week

A 19-year-old man, Samuel Frederick Donley, has been charged with the murder of Liam Miller in York.

Donley of Hamilton Drive, Acomb, has also been charged with the attempted murder of a man in his fifties who was found injured in the street.

He appeared before York Magistrates’ Court on Friday (July 31). He has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court next Tuesday (August 4).

Liam, from Terrington near Malton, was found outside a house in Hamilton Drive West, Acomb, York, with multiple stab wounds on Monday night (July 27).

He died later in hospital. He was 20 years old.

The injured man was attacked while trying to intervene.

Liam’s family paid tribute to him, saying: “We are absolutely devastated by Liam’s untimely death.

“We cannot put into words the shock and disbelief we feel about what has happened.”

Liam, a former student at York College, was studying graphic design and illustration at Liverpool John Moore’s University.

More tributes have been paid to the talented young man.

Dan Kelly, 30, who was on the same course as Liam, told the Liverpool Echo:

He was the joker of the group, he always put a smile on your face. He came out with all this weird and wacky stuff, crazy ideas that had everyone laughing.

His illustration work was ridiculously good, that’s one of the tragic things. He was a talented musician too and could play piano and guitar, he was always recording music.

Liam’s music tutor at York College, Rob Parker, told the York Press:

Liam was a talented guitarist and he loved making music with his band. He was one of the most friendly, witty, and creative students we have taught.

While a friend, Susan Hebblethwaite, left a simple message on the Facebook page for the band he played in, Nocebo:

RIP Liam, god speed ❤
