A man is critically injured in hospital after being attacked behind a café in Thirsk.
At around 10pm on Saturday police were called after a 32-year-old man had been assaulted at the back of the White Horse Café in the town’s Market Place.
Enquires suggest that it followed an incident in The Royal pub that had spilled onto the street.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with serious head injuries where he currently remains in a critical condition.
Following enquiries a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He has been released on bail.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers understand that a number of people were in the area and witnessed the assault, or incidents surrounding it, and have asked for those people to come forward with any information if they have if they haven’t already spoken to police.”
