Police are trying to trace specific witnesses after a man was attacked on a York street.
It happened on Walmgate on Monday 3 June between 10.30pm and 10.45pm.
A man in his 20s was approached by an older man in his 50s who punched the victim in the face and head.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The victim has fought back and managed to run away from the male who is believed to have tried to chase the victim for a short period of time.
“The victim states there were two females in the area at the time. Also a taxi pulled up in the street and sounded its horn.”
Police are trying to trace the women and the taxi driver. They also want to hear from any witnesses, or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
