You didn’t imagine it – the gingerbread man really was hot-footing it across the city centre all in aid of a good cause. He was Thomas The Baker’s contribution to Comic Relief, dishing out gingerbread men to shoppers in return for donations.
The Yorkshire family bakery decided to add a comic twist to the traditional biscuit they’ve been baking for over 30 years.
“Everyone knows the fairy-tale story of the Gingerbread Man, so we decided to set our giant gingerbread man, Jimmy, off on his Comic Relief challenge. It was a great way to grab people’s attention and raise some cash for such a worthy cause,” said Simon Thomas, general manager at Thomas the Baker.
“It really was a fantastic day – even the staff from the King’s Square shop joined in the fun in fancy dress.”
Thomas the Baker also launched a special edition red-nosed jammy biscuit and a giant red-nosed marshmallow biscuit. All the proceeds from the specially created biscuits will be donated to Comic Relief.
