Bees will be leading a bug’s life of luxury if they discover this rather swish new structure.
It’s a bee ‘hotel’ – just the place for any hard-working pollinator to take a break.
The hotel was created by volunteers at Three Hagges Wood-Meadow near Escrick.
They were guided by ecologist and lifelong wildlife recorder Ryan Clark, after he had spoken to the National Biodiversity Network Conference at Sand Hutton.
Project manager for Hagge Woods Trust Lin Hawthorne helped volunteers collect canes, old roofing tiles, bricks, palettes, building blocks and more to build the hotel.

The bug hotel will particularly help offer homes to declining species such as solitary bees and wasps.
