Police are investigating after a child was spoken to by a man in a van outside a York primary school.
It happened yesterday morning (Wednesday) outside Acomb Primary School.
Headteacher of Poppleton Road Primary School Debbie Glover sent out a message to her parents about the incident.
She wrote: “The child is in school and is absolutely fine but I would just ask that you remain vigilant during school drop-off and pick-up times and report anything unusual to a member of staff.
“Please also remind children about the importance of not speaking to strangers and to talk to a parent or teacher if they have any concerns.”
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “On the morning of 18 June, police in York received a report from a school in Acomb that a male front-seat passenger in a white van had asked a primary school aged child her name through the open window of the van.
“The van then left the area. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the van and its occupants.”
