A rescue operation was mounted in Whitby this afternoon (Thursday).
Firefighters were called in at 1.15pm after a woman suffered a leg injury while getting into a canoe.
It meant she was trapped in the canoe.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews assisted the coastguard and paramedics to remove the female from the canoe using a spinal board.
“They lifted her up the bankside to a waiting ambulance.”
