The road that leads from Shambles Market is to close for the best part of six weeks.
Newgate will be shut to traffic along the cobbled area between Patrick Pool and the top of Shambles.
The closure will last from 15 April to 27 May.

This is to allow scaffolding to be put up as essential maintenance work is carried out at 1 Newgate, home to insurance company Illingworths.
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained during the work. Cars and vans will be diverted for the duration of the work
