The victim, a woman in her 80s who was visiting York, was using a walker for support.

Her handbag, which was placed inside of the walker, contained a sum of money along with the jewellery items.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:

“We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the jewellery or been offered it for sale.”
