Two teenagers have been arrested after a holidaying York resident was alerted to suspicious activity at his house.
In the early hours yesterday (Monday), an Acomb man who was on holiday received a notification on his phone that a CCTV camera had been activated.
The video footage showed two suspects around a garage.
Police were called and went straight to the area.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Within minutes, a suspect was located nearby. He was carrying bolt croppers and screwdrivers, and was arrested on suspicion of burglary and going equipped for burglary.
“Half an hour later, following a search of the area, officers located and arrested another male suspect on suspicion of burglary.”
They also found cycles and motorbikes abandoned nearby. They’ve been seized and will be returned to their owners.
The two suspects, who are both aged 17, have been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Their bail conditions include a night-time curfew.
