Tickets are now on sale for an event which is set to be one of most memorable of York’s summer.
A giant water slide is coming to the city, turning one of our few hills into a slip’n’slide spectacular.
As we first reported in April, the water slide is the idea of the University of York Boat Club.
And although the event takes place on the Heslington East Campus, everyone is welcome.
The 70-metre vinyl slide – the first giant water slide ever to come to York – will have a huge splash zone at the end. It is being provided by XS Events, who have held similar events in Derby and Sunderland.

The first set of Early Bird tickets for the event on Friday, June 3 2016 have already sold out.
But during May the next batch of tickets are on sale from £6.75-£10.75 – a 10% discount. And Will is offering an extra 10% off for YorkMix readers.
Each ticket allows you to slide an unlimited number of times within one of these time bands:
- 9am-noon
- Noon-4pm
- 4pm-7pm

As well as the slide there will be other activities including bouncy castles, music and a barbecue.
Money raised will help the University of York buy new boats “to help the take the club to the next level next season at Henley”.
