York police made two arrests following an event in the city.
Officers said “despite early challenges” the St Saviourgate community event was a success.
Members of the local neighbourhood policing team were on the street from 10am to 2pm.
York Inner PCSO Aidan Ballanger said: “Our community came together to achieve some remarkable outcomes.”
These included:
- Multiple dispersals issued removing a number of individuals who were causing issues in the area
- One stop search led to the discovery and seizure of a dangerous blade
- Two arrests made, “sending a strong message that illegal activity will not be tolerated in our area”.

PCSO Ballanger added: “On this beautiful day, we witnessed the power of community unity and proactive measures in action. We’re immensely grateful to everyone who contributed to this successful outcome.
“Let’s continue basking in the warmth of community spirit and working together to maintain the vibrancy and security of our beloved St Saviourgate!”
