Fire crews in York responded to two separate fires yesterday evening, both believed to have been started by youths.

The reports follow a series of similar incidents that are taking place in the city over recent weeks.

The first fire took place in York at around 7:20 pm, when youths set a tv cable box alight.

The fire had been extinguished by police prior to crews arrival.

The second incident followed shortly after, at around 7:30 pm.

An Acomb fire crew were called to Rawden Avenue, in York, to extinguish a wheelie bin fire.

The blaze, which was in a woodland, was also believed to have been started by youths. The police were informed.
