The York Chocolate Festival is back for 2022 – and it’s bigger and better than ever.

Returning for the first time since 2019, the festival was declared open this morning (Thursday) by York Town Crier Ben Fry.

And it will be on Parliament Street from 14 to 18 April, 10am to 5pm.

Yum!

With more than 40 stands featuring delicious goodies such as specialist chocolates, easter eggs, brownies, macarons, and more – you will be spoilt for choice.

Bertie Bingham from Butterflies Chocolates said, “It’s our first time here but I’ve heard lots of good things about [the festival], which is why we’ve come to do it.

“We work with the finest Belgian chocolate that’s sustainably sourced. Our main thing is our chocolate bars – which is a mixture of more unusual flavours like lemon and thyme and then traditional ones like ginger and orange.”

Crumbs Cupcakery, famous for their top-rated shop on College Street in York, is taking part in the festival for the first time. “It’s nice to make friends and share products with other people and try something new,” said Ellie Davis from Crumbs.

“Seeing customers who normally come to the shop, they like to come to the stall and see us which is nice.”

As well as food stalls there is also a stacked program of demonstrations and workshops that feature some of York and Yorkshire’s most talented chefs and chocolatiers at work.

See international chocolate consultant Andrew Thwaite and esteemed pastry chef Florian Poirot in action in the demonstration tent, or take part in an Easter Egg Masterclass with York Cocoa Works – and much more.

There’s also the Chocolate Festival Bar, where visitors can try a range of dessert cocktails from The Yorkshire Explorer as well as their chocolate gins.
