The long spell of sunny weather came to an end in York this afternoon – and resulted in difficult driving conditions on at least one city road.
Heavy rain overwhelmed drains causing floods on parts of the road network. Yorkshire Water is looking into why the drainage system failed to cope at Water Lane.
This video shows the scene. Traffic backed up across the city and roads were as busy as before lockdown.
The water seemed to go down quite quickly but there was a very nasty smell of sewage, locals reported
