York is getting a village store – inside the city walls.
The Village Shop is opening on Goodramgate, next to Monk Bar.
It will start trading soon in what was Monkbar Barbers.
“We started this business as a family and we love it,” said the joint owners, Eylem Kaya and Haydar Akboga.
It will offer “healthy and high quality products and present them to the people of York”, they told YorkMix.
There will be organic, vegan, gluten-free and natural products among the ranges on offer.
And they will be the only shop stocking some of the products.
When they open their doors, they plan to offer ” a big discount because the day is a day of solidarity”.
The news comes a day after we reported that the Trailfinders chain were opening a new travel agents on Stonegate.
