A violent offender from York who was on the run from police has been arrested.
North Yorkshire Police put out an appeal to find Richard James Sampson earlier this month.
He was wanted for recall to prison after breaching the terms of his licence.
Sampson was released from prison in March part way through a six-year eight-month sentence for wounding with intent.
Today, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re pleased to confirm the 44-year-old was arrested in the local area on Saturday (22 June).
“He has been recalled to prison for breaching the terms of his prison release licence having originally been sentenced to six years and eight months’ imprisonment for wounding with intent.”
