A large crowd gathered in Museum Gardens in York to watch a gun salute to mark the Queen’s death.
The Death Gun Salute was held at 1pm in London, in York and at other saluting stations around the UK and the world.
On the stroke of the hour, the first explosive round echoed across the city.
One round was then fired every 10 seconds, with 96 rounds representing one round for every year of the Queen’s life.
The Army fired off the rounds from the three 105mm light guns with impeccable timing.
And although the heavens opened about two-thirds of the way through, people remained in place to see the entire salute, which lasted 16 minutes.
YorkMix live streamed the event on our Instagram channel, and you can see the footage above.
It is actually the third gun salute dedicated to the Queen this year. The first, in February, marked the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.
And the second celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June.
