Where did the year go? It’s hard to believe this is the final day of Knavesmire’s brilliant season.

Record prize money, huge attendances, and Tom Jones too. A triumphant season all round.

Now YorkMix tipster Dick Turpin seeks to go out with a bang in today’s feature races, the Rockingham Stakes (2.50), and the Coral Sprint (3.25).

Turpin writes: Donjuan Triumphant looks the pick in a select field for the eight-runner Rockingham (2.50) six-furlong dash.

Dhahmaan and Gracious John are the main dangers.

But the selection’s performance at Ayr last month suggests he is capable of finishing the two-year-old stage of his career on a high, with much more to come next year.

In the Coral Sprint (3.25) smart three-year-old Poyle Vinnie looks set to gain compensation for a narrow defeat in the Ayr Gold Cup.

It’s the October Finale at Knavesmire, writes YorkMix tipster Dick Turpin.

Two days of exhilarating contests in prospect – and it’s hard for Turpin to look beyond Pin Up in the seven-runner Stan James Handicap (3.25).

Impressive when winning over the 1m 6f of Haydock last month, but caught out by the pace at Ascot recently, this is her chance to make amends in the likely softer going.

A little word in Turpin’s ear from friends at Mark Johnston’s Middleham yard suggests that Yorkidding might be the big danger at a good price, rather than the more fancied Brandon Castle and Who Dares Wins.

A thrilling feature race in prospect.

Al Kirana is an easy choice in the 2.50 five-furlong sprint. She gave herself no chance 13 days ago on her debut at Newmarket, but made up huge ground and finished an eye-catching sixth.

If Richard Hannon has schooled her to settle better, she should fly home with the benefit of a low draw and Tom Marquand’s 3ib claim helping matters even more.

Turpin won’t be put off Sea Wolf by his likely long odds in the last race cavalry charge (4.55).

This seven-furlong affair is wide open and it will take very little improvement to see him snatch this handicap off near-bottom weight.
