Yorkshire’s biggest beer garden and a world food court – York Beer Festival is moving on and moving up in 2016.
York CAMRA has revealed the dates and details of this year’s Beer & Cider Festival – the largest outdoor festival in the North.
And the jamboree has a new home – but it’s not moving far.
It will be held from September 14-17 in the new purpose-built course enclosure directly opposite the grandstand at York Racecourse.
Although very close to its former home on Knavesmire, the enclosure has the added advantage of being on an area with built in drainage to guard against flooding during downpours.
And it offeres far better amenities such as permanent toilets and a permanent perimeter fence.

The festival promises to be bigger and better than ever with more than
- 450 real ales
- 100 ciders and perries
- plus a foreign beer bar.
There will be an expanded range of world cuisines and street food available in an enhanced food village within the beer festival enclosure plus Yorkshire’s biggest beer garden.
A range of bands and musicians are booked to provide entertainment on the live stage inside the marquee.
York CAMRA will host the SIBA North East Beer Competition for the third year running, where more than 100 regional breweries pit their real ales against each other.

Now we need to get our thinking caps on to come up with some even more exciting festival special beers to brew and sample!
In another first for the festival – York CAMRA are partnering with Eventbrite to offer advance tickets for all sessions of the festival which will include e-ticketing via smartphones.
