A York gym owner took part in a day-long challenge over the weekend, to raise money for a cause extremely close to his heart.

Jason Moreton is the owner of MoreTone Fitness, where the 24 hour workout challenge took place.

The initiative was to raise money for Hull NICU, the neonatal unit that saved the lives of Jason’s twin boys five years ago.

Tommy and Conan were born at just 25 weeks old and not only did the unit care for the boys at this crucial time, the team were on hand to support Jason and his partner through the difficult time.

Now the boys have reached five years old and are preparing to start school, the family wanted to give back by raising £5,000 for the unit and the life-saving work they do.

Jason, Alan Hussan, and Mark Pembroke began the challenge at 10:00 AM on Friday 15th November, which ran until the next morning.

The hours were spent taking part in various exercises across the gym, including running, yoga, and kickboxing.

Their day was scheduled as follows:

  • 10 AM – 12 PM: Gym workouts
  • 12 PM – 12:45 PM: Moretoned class
  • 12:45 PM – 4 PM: Gym workouts
  • 4 PM – 5:30 PM: Run
  • 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM: Yoga with Kat
  • 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Kickboxing with York Syndicate
  • 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Gym workouts
  • 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM: Run
  • 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM: Gym workouts
  • 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Morefit class

During the 24 hour stint, MoreTone Fitness members joined in with the exercises to support Jason and his two challenge partners, in shorter stints throughout the day/night.

Live updates were also regularly shared onto their Facebook page, to prove they weren’t slacking!

They chose to complete the challenge on Children in Need Day (18 November) as they felt it was the perfect time to highlight the importance of supporting children’s health and wellbeing.

Jason has managed to raise almost £3,000 of their target with over 100 supporters, but hopes to continue to spread the word and raise awareness of Hull NICU’s incredible work.

As if the 24 hour fitness challenge wasn’t enough, he had also completed another ambitious adventure just a few weeks ago.

Himself and a few others managed to walk Hadrian’s Wall in three days, a route that’s usually tackled over six to seven days, raising over £2,000 for the unit.
