The Marathon du Malton was set to return this weekend – but it has been postponed following the sad news of the death of the Queen.
The announcement was made via the Visit Malton website.
The event was due to take place on Sunday 18 September. The new date has been announced as Sunday 23 October 2022.
Many events have been cancelled or postponed during the period of national mourning as a mark of respect for the Queen, who passed away last week.
Director of Visit Malton, Tom Naylor-Leyland, commented on the announcement: “We have all been deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II last week.
“We made the difficult decision to postpone the event as a sign of respect, and to allow people to observe the period of national mourning.
“We have been working hard with our race partners to organise a new date and can now announce that Marathon Du Malton will be taking place on Sunday 23 October instead.
“We hope you can all make it as we’re confident the Marathon will still be a wonderful event.”

The Marathon du Malton is a unique 10k that starts and finishes in Malton’s market place – where contestants have the chance to eat and drink their way around the course.
Inspired by the Marathon Du Medoc in France’s wine region, the Marathon Du Malton was set to have tempting treats such as roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, Medoc wine, macarons and more on offer for participants.
Known as Britain’s tastiest 10k, the day also had a programme of live music, street vendors and family fun.
The event was due to be hosted by YorkMix Radio.
