York may soon get a 21st century version of the Bile Beans advert.
If planners give the go ahead, a large wall on Nunnery Lane will be deocrated with a painted advert for York Gin.
The company behind the gin, will launched just under a year ago, have already been given permission by the owner of the house, which is on the corner with Bishopgate.

would be a painted cream & black sign in heritage colours (with a little red, also muted heritage colours).
With the logo of York Gin – which is a castellation with a black cat (as seen on York city walls). Wording “York Gin. Made in the Ancient City of York by the York Gin Company”.
It would be 3.5m tall by 4.5m wide, and just over 4m from the ground.
Director of York Gin Company Ltd Emma Godivala said it seemed like a great way to mark the first hugely successful year of the business.
“We wanted to celebrate that and do something that hopefully makes the place a little bit more attractive.”
The position of the advert is just across the road from The Swan where the idea for York Gin was first hatched.
And all the directors live in the Bishopthorpe Road area.
