Groups of youths have been spotted firing catapults at birds in York.
Police say the youngsters, aged around 14 to 16, were “attacking wildlife in particular birds with slingshots and catapults” in the Heslington area.
They are asking people to report any suspicious activity or evidence of injured birds to them.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Be mindful of your personal safety if you do witness any persons mistreating animals, and make sure you are safe and call the police.”
